Yes, we did it!!!

Yes, We are building a new home with Ryan - and decided to document the process from start to finish (hopefully). Hope this would be helpful for folks who are planning to build a new home - just like we have been following other blogs religiously on a day to day basis.

About us - we are a small family - me, my wife and a 4 yr old son. We have been renting so far and already feel the need for a bigger home. We work near DC and planned to buy home with in 20-25 minutes of driving range from work with a good school district (greatschools rating of 8 or above). Started with a budget in mind - but quickly realized that difference between our expectation and ground reality was too big...so we did the math again - applied for pre-qualification and then searched for homes in that budget.

Our search finally ended with the site that we loved - primary reason being the backyard has a wooded view - all the schools (elementary/middle/high) have good rating, 12 miles from our work place, very good community (clubhouse, swimming pool, walking trail etc etc).

Our model is Ryan - Taylor home (4 bed, 2.5 bath) with attached Garage (is a big thing in this area...most of the homes around this locality has detached Garage...not that it is bad..but would be helpful duing winter season)

Here is the current status:
  • May-end delivey
  • Loan with NVR Mortgage is yet to be approved (and yes, we are still tensed)
  • Met with Guardian & CTI (will write more about this in couple of days)
  • Yet to meet with Ryan to choose the colors & other details (we have a meeting with them on 2/15)

  3. Congrats on your new journey!! We are also building in the DC/MD area near BWI airport. We are blogging about our Ryan Condo. Have fun on your journey! We were very tense during the approval stage with NVR because this is our firs time doing this! Thankfully the folks at NVR have been very helpful and we've made a good relationship with our Sales Rep. Have fun and welcome!
